Doelgericht Googlen

Deze week las ik op de site van Clickx magazine een aantal leuke tips in verband met doelgericht zoeken met google. Hieronder vind je het artikel terug.

Sommige woorden, die gevolgd worden door een dubbelpunt, hebben een speciale betekenis voor Google. Een voorbeeld hiervan is de operator 'site:'. Om op een specifiek domein of een specifieke website te zoeken, typ je in het Google-zoekvak 'site:ditdomein.be' (of .com, .net of om het even welke andere extensie). Om bijvoorbeeld op de site van GameSpot België berichten te vinden over Microsoft's Xbox, tik je 'xbox site:www.gamespot.be' in (of 'site:www.gamespot.be xbox').

Ook als je in een tekst op een technische term of een moeilijk woord stuit, kan je je licht opsteken bij Google. De populaire zoekmachine doet namelijk ook dienst als online verklarend woordenboek. Als je voor je zoekopdracht 'define:' tikt, schuimt Google het internet af naar definities van je zoekterm. Er zijn overigens nog meer van die commandowoordjes die je in je zoekopdracht kan plaatsen. Als je specifiek zoekt naar een pdf-document over het paringsgedrag van de gierzwaluw, dan zoek je 'gierzwaluw filetype:pdf'. En als je vindt dat je zoekterm al meteen moet voorkomen in de url van de gezochte site, dan wordt het: 'inurl:gierzwaluw'.

Echt handig deze operatoren !! Ik vroeg me af als er nog meer mogelijkheden waren en kwam op de volgende pagina terecht op google. http://www.google.be/intl/en/help/operators.html.

My holiday pictures

Windows XP: the OS that Won't Die?

Microsoft has had to create a new build of Windows XP Professional for computer makers because the six-year-old operating system's continued popularity has nearly exhausted the supply of product activation keys. The new build, dubbed SP2c, includes no fixes or feature changes, but was created simply to address the shrinking pool of product keys. XP Pro SP2c, which has been released to manufacturing, will be made available to OEMs and system builders next month, said Microsoft.

Back from vacation

Hi, I'm back from vacation since saturday.Bodrum was awesome and the weather was excellent. Once my holiday pictures are ready , I will post them ! for the moment I'm at my work and having lunchpause...Tonight I might take a look and plan my next trip :-) I think newyear's eve in Paris would be sooo nice ...
